Spring on the Adriatic – Part 1: Getting There

Spring on the Adriatic – Part 1: Getting There

In the past few years, interest in the Adriatic region of Europe has increased substantially, in large part to HBO’s Game of Thrones. Much of the show is filmed in Croatia, and the country has seen a huge influx of tourism.

The Adriatic is beautiful, and I greatly enjoyed my visit to Slovenia in 2014. While much of this trip would be in Croatia, my friend and I also planned day trips to Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Delta’s Inaugural A350 Flight!

Delta’s Inaugural A350 Flight!

Hello everyone! Today is an incredibly exciting day as the Airbus A350 enters service for Delta Air Lines! I purchased a seat (in Delta’s new Suites class!) several months ago when the inaugural route was announced, and I’m thrilled to be able to share my experience in real time today! I shouldn’t have any trouble updating while on board, as Delta’s equipped their A350 with 2Ku WiFi. However, if you want more photos, you can also check out my Snapchat Story of today’s events @mspgabe.

48 Hours in Europe – Part 1: Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic

48 Hours in Europe – Part 1: Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic

The Czech Republic (or Czechia) has been one of the most popular European destinations the past several years. Many airlines are adding flights to Prague at least seasonally to keep up with increased demand. While Prague’s been high on my list for quite some time, my first time in Czechia was in the much lesser known, but just as beautiful, Karlovy Vary.

24 Hours in Sapporo

24 Hours in Sapporo

Though I’ve been to Japan several times, I’ve never ventured anywhere other than Tokyo. My friend and I have long talked about flying to see the cherry blossoms when they are in bloom, and as luck would have it, we both had some time off at the beginning of May. Normally this is too late for much of Japan, but it’s perfect timing for the northern island of Hokkaido.

24 Hours in Honolulu

24 Hours in Honolulu

I frequently get asked the toughest destination to non-rev to. While any destination can be difficult depending on the time of year, Hawaii’s the one destination that’s consistently challenging to fly to and from. It’s popular year round, with limited flights, and you can’t exactly drive to a nearby airport if flights are full.

3 Countries in 4 Nights – Part 5: Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong

3 Countries in 4 Nights – Part 5: Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong

While I could have flown back to the US directly from Paris, I still had almost a full week before I needed to return to work. I also wanted to make a return trip to visit some friends in the Philippines, and in all my years of travel, I had never circumnavigated the earth. This was the perfect opportunity to do both.

3 Countries in 4 Nights – Part 1: Flying to Switzerland

3 Countries in 4 Nights – Part 1: Flying to Switzerland

Fall is the best time to travel if you’re flying standby. The weather is cooler, the large tourists crowds have dispersed, and most importantly, flights are typically open. It’s why I will typically schedule one of my vacation weeks in October. While my friend and I had discussed trips as far flung as South Africa, Sri Lanka, or New Zealand, we decided on a slightly easier trip, planning a visit to Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and France.

24 Hours in Rome – Part 3

24 Hours in Rome – Part 3

While I typically can arrive 90 minutes or so before departure at most airports and make my flight in plenty of time, I wouldn’t even think about it in Rome, as the check-in process takes ages. Delta has since moved to Terminal 1, making things easier, but at the time they used Terminal 5, a satellite terminal inaccessible by foot from Terminal 1 and 2.
